You must submit a petition to your Faculty, stating your request for an English language proficiency certificate. After your faculty submits your request, the Common Courses Department Head will forward the document to your Faculty. Your faculty will also forward it to you. Students who want to obtain an original signature of the document from the Common Courses Department Head can come to our Department Head and get a signature after this stage.
.How can I get my English exemption/proficiency exam result document?
You must apply to your Faculty with a petition stating your English exam result request. Your faculty will forward your request to the Head of Common Courses Department.
.Since I took a course from the lower or upper semester during the midterm exam period, the exam of the course I take coincides with the Common Courses Department exam. What should I do?
You should discuss the issue with your faculty, not to miss the make-up exam application dates, and when the application period comes, you should apply to your faculty with a petition expressing your problem.
.Are there English courses at different levels at Turkish-German University?
Our university offers English courses at different levels in some periods, but this issue is dealt with by Turkish-German University Continuing Education and Application Center (TAU-SEM), not our unit.
.The quota for the compulsory course I want to choose is full. Can the Department of Common Courses increase the quota?
The Department of Common Courses increases the quota in compulsory courses only if the quota of the lecturer to be selected and the other lecturers teaching the course are also full. There is no quota increase so that the students can choose the instructor they want.
.The quota for the elective course I want to choose is full. Can the Department of Common Courses increase the quota?
The quotas of elective courses are determined by the Senate of our University. The Department of Common Courses does not increase the quota. The current status of the elective course quota should be checked during course registration and add-drop periods.
.When is the English Exemption/Proficiency Exam held?
English Exemption/Proficiency Exam is held at the beginning of the each academic term, on the dates announced by the Head of the Common Courses Department.
.How many times can I take the English Exemption/Proficiency exam?
Our students have the right to take the English Exemption/Proficiency Exam once. However, students whose exams are deemed invalid can take the exam again.
.When can irregular students take the exemption exam?
They can take the English Exemption/Proficiency Exam held at the beginning of the academic term. There are no other exams during the semester.
.Since I failed the TestDaF exam, my English Exemption/Proficiency Exam result was not announced, but can I still learn my exam result?
The exam results of our students who fail the TestDaF exam are not announced because the English Exemption/Proficiency Exam is deemed invalid. For this reason, it is not possible to learn your invalid exam result.
.I could not take the English Proficiency Exam; How else can I be exempt from English lessons?
1-You can be exempt with an exam result that we can give equivalence according to the International Foreign Language Exam Equivalence Document published by ÖSYM.
2-You can be exempt by substituting courses you have previously taken from another Higher Education Institution.
.How can I be exempt from English courses with an exam result that can give equivalence according to the International Foreign Language Exams Equivalence Document published by ÖSYM?
According to the International Foreign Language Exam Equivalence Document published by ÖSYM, you must submit to your Faculty your language document reflecting your exam result that we can give equivalence to. You must submit a petition stating your request to your Faculty along with the language document in question. After your faculty submits your request, the Common Courses Department will first organize a commission. If the commission decides on exemption, an exemption certificate will be created in your name. The Head of the Common Courses Department forwards the document in question to your Faculty. Your faculty will forward it to you. Students who want to obtain an original version of the document from the Common Courses Department Head can come to our Department and get a signature after this stage.

.How can I be exempt from English courses by showing the courses I have taken from another Higher Education Institution?
You must submit the documents to your Faculty writing the English courses you have taken from another higher education institution. You must submit a petition stating your exemption request to your Faculty along with the documents in question. After your faculty submits your request, the Common Courses Department will first organize a commission. If a decision is made to exempt you, an exemption certificate will be created in your name. The Head of the Common Courses Department forwards the document in question to your Faculty. Your faculty will forward it to you. Students who want to obtain an original version of the document from the Common Courses Department Head can come to our Department and get a signature after this stage.
.Is there a certain time period to request exemption from English courses?
The exemption request period ends with the end of the excused course registration period for each semester.
